Christmas in Viet Nam

Noel, also known as Christmas in Vietnam, is usually held from the evening of December 24 to the end of December 25, an opportunity to have fun, give gifts, and send each other good wishes.

Nowadays, in Vietnam, Christmas is not just for Christians; which has become an occasion to have fun with many people, especially for young people; to give gifts and wish each other well.

The original of christmas in Vietnam

In 1533, Catholicism was introduced to Vietnam and has grown to become one of the religions with a large number of followers.
In 1625, Minh Duc Vuong Thai Phi (the wife of Princess Nguyen Hoang, mother of Prince Nguyen Phuc Khue; title of Vuong Phi, the head of the rank of concubine) was over 50 years old at that time, she joined Catholicism in Thuan Hoa. She was baptized by missionary Francisco Di Pina with the holy name Maria Madalena.
She had 24 years of preaching and apostolic work to expand the kingdom of God, leaving an example of virtue shining throughout the court. Her actions greatly influenced the people; and her reputation is always marked in the history books. She was also considered by missionaries as the soul of Catholicism at that time.

Christmas is gradually becoming popular

Christmas is the anniversary of the birth of Jesus. That's why many countries in Europe, America (here they are mainly Catholic) - this is the biggest holiday of the year. Christmas takes place in the last week of the year, so it is also the time to prepare to end the old year and welcome the new year.
On this occasion, families often try to get all the work done for the year; Prepare to decorate the house for family reunion. The indispensable decoration on this day is the Christmas tree, which will be beautifully decorated and placed in the living room; in the West usually near the fireplace.
According to Western legend, on the night of December 24, Santa Claus will ride a herd of reindeer carrying large bags of gifts. Then he would crawl down the chimney from the fireplace house by house; Give gifts to children in boots (or socks) hanging by the fireplace. On the morning of December 25, children will receive the desired gift after writing a letter to Santa to express their wishes.
In recent years, Christmas Eve has become more popular in Vietnam. Although it is not a holiday, Christmas is a time of joy for everyone. People also create beautiful spaces on Christmas day such as decorating Christmas trees and giving gifts to children. Vietnamese children also form a culture of writing letters to Santa Claus to express their dreams and desires. For non-Christian Vietnamese, Christmas day is like a happy day, so parents, depending on their circumstances, conditions and abilities, have ways to give gifts to their children.
 

Christmas culture in Vietnam
