Product information
The PAM-DISTORTION, with its first commercial version released in September 2013, is the achievement of many years of research and experience in chemical thermal stress analysis. It was developed through industrial partnerships and projects in the aerospace and wind energy industries.
During manufacturing, composite parts made from thermosetting plastics undergo a curing process that transforms the resin from a liquid to a solid state. This thermochemical process results in residual stresses that will deform the part.
Predict deformation process
Controlling the geometry of composite components is a critical challenge for most industries: high performance aerospace components with tight tolerances; Tolerance compliance is of utmost importance in assembly and when handling very large parts such as the spoiler.
PAM-DISTORTION is an alternative solution to expensive and time-consuming physical experiments. It is possible to predict shape deformations, design molds and correct the implementation process before testing is performed.
PAM-DISTORTION calculates shape deformations taking into account major influencing factors including layering, thermosetting plastic expansion, shrinkage during curing, curing temperature and mold thermal expansion .
