Altair HyperLife
Software for predicting stress and fatigue resistance
Altair HyperLife is a comprehensive and easy-to-use fatigue analysis tool that directly interacts with FEA data. With embedded databases, HyperLife provides solutions for predicting life expectancy under static and variable load across industrial applications.
1. Benefits of Altair HyperLife software
User friendly
Thanks to its simple and easy-to-use interface, HyperLife is effective for simulation teams. Intuitive interface allows users to quickly predict the fatigue of the parts easily.
Neutral solver
Compatible with input data from most of the famous FEA software in the world.
Fast processing
Perform multiple variations of the problem without having to create new data, which increases processing speed and reduces costs.
2. Features of Altair HyperLife software
2.1. Fatigue analysis
Stress life (SN) and strain life (EN)
Unidirectional and multi-axis evaluation options with wide range of mean stress adjustment theories. Various stress combination methods are available for single-axis evaluation. Implement main plane for multi-axis evaluation.
For strain life (EN) - Neuber plasticity option is available for single-axis plasticization model and Jiang-Sehitoglu (default) for Multi-axis evaluation.
Safety factor
The safety factor based on Dang Van's fatigue limit criterion is used to predict if a component fails during its entire load-bearing process.
Soldering
The weld pattern is predictable for both spot and line welding.
- The spot weld structural stress method will fix the spot weld and is idealized with CHEXA, CWELD and CBAR / CBEAM element representation.
- The seam weld structural stress method will fix the ideal weld to sheet or shell elements. The approach is based on the VOLVO method. Supported welds are FILLET welds and weld lines (corners) are automatically determined for weld fatigue analysis based on the VOLVO method.
2.2. Materials database
Materials can be custom-made according to parameters entered and assigned to parts. The app comes preloaded with a library of fatigue material properties from which you can choose. Users can also download documents from their database or create new documents during the session. Materials can be estimated based on UTS and specified for parts.
2.3. Signal Processing
A simple yet powerful signal processing is available with the LoadMap utility. Strength parameters can be generated automatically or manually to match FEA load cases and fatigue load files. Commonly used Loadhistory file types such as: DAC, RPC and CSV file formats. A simple sinusoidal curve or load data can be generated with just one click.
2.4. Analysis
The fatigue analysis setting can be reviewed before entering the solver run. Once the analysis is completed, the results can then be loaded to visualize the failure level and number of cycles of Failure block generation. 3D graphs of Damage matrix and Rainflow matrix available. The same shape can be run again after modifying any of the settings in the previous steps.
